In this modern world it’s becoming increasingly difficult to be a good man, let alone a better man. More and more, men face challenges and obstacles that often restrict their individuality and masculinity. One significant challenge and probable cause is the absence of strong role models and father figures, to provide guidance and leadership. Without positive male influences, young men may struggle to find their sense of purpose and direction, leading to feelings of aimlessness and confusion. The pressures of societal expectations, social media, economic pressure and countless stereotypes can further exacerbate these challenges, placing rigid constraints on what it means to be a man.
Men are capable of anything. We just need direction. Like an arrow. Point us where to go and what to do and we’ll do it! There’s too much noise in the world today, on the news, on social media, in politics. It’s all around us, obscuring our true path. Throughout my life I’ve tried to stick to 10 principles and I believe they have for the most part kept me on the right path and I’d like to share them with you. Learning and embracing these ten principles can undoubtedly help both young and older men navigate Life’s obstacles, and in the process reclaim their individuality, find direction, and foster a sense of purpose. They offer a framework for personal growth, helping men navigate the complexities of the modern world while staying true to themselves and making a positive impact on others.
Principle 1: Take Care of Your Body
Physical Health and Vitality
Taking care of your body is crucial for maintaining physical health and vitality. Your body serves as a vessel that carries you through life, and its well-being directly impacts your overall quality of life. Engaging in regular exercise and physical activity not only strengthens your muscles and cardiovascular system but also enhances your mental well-being. Exercise releases endorphins, which can boost your mood, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function. By prioritizing physical activity, you empower yourself to experience a greater sense of vitality, energy, and resilience in the face of daily challenges.
Nourishment and Self-Care
Proper nutrition and mindful self-care are essential components of caring for your body. Nourishing your body with wholesome and balanced foods provides the necessary nutrients for optimal functioning. A healthy diet supports your immune system, aids in maintaining a healthy weight, and enhances your overall well-being. Additionally, ensuring sufficient rest and sleep is vital for rejuvenation and allows your body to repair and regenerate. Taking the time for self-care activities, such as stress management techniques, relaxation practices, and regular check-ups, further promotes your body’s longevity and optimal functioning. By acknowledging the importance of caring for your body through nutrition and self-care, you establish a strong foundation for good health, enabling you to lead a fulfilling life and pursue your aspirations with vigor.
Principle 2: Embrace Personal Growth and Education:
Embrace a lifelong commitment to personal growth and education. Seek opportunities to expand your knowledge, acquire new skills, and explore your passions. Continuously challenge yourself to learn, adapt, and evolve, unlocking your full potential in various aspects of life. Learning is not just for school and university. Obviously when you have the opportunity to attend further education, absolutely do it, and if you don’t then make sure you are learning a skill – plumbing, electrics, bookkeeping, programming, whatever! So long as you are always learning or improving your skills. The world is changing rapidly and if you don’t keep up by keeping your education and skills up to date and relevant you will fall behind.
Principle 3: Be Strong, Honest, Kind, and Loyal:
Cultivate strength of character, displaying resilience, determination, and self-control. Stand up for your principles and values while remaining open-minded and respectful of others. Practice kindness, empathy, and compassion in your interactions, fostering positive relationships. Remain loyal and true to your commitments, honoring trust and integrity. This will stand you in good stead throughout all your relationships. Don’t be a selfish dick!
Principle 4: Be a diligent worker:
Approach your work with dedication, discipline, and integrity. Strive for excellence in your chosen field, taking pride in your work and delivering high-quality results. Embrace a strong work ethic and contribute positively to your workplace, recognizing the value of teamwork and collaboration.

Principle 5: Persevere:
Face challenges with determination, resilience, and a willingness to learn from setbacks. Maintain a positive mindset, embracing adversity as an opportunity for growth. Stay focused on your goals, persisting even when faced with obstacles. Maintain a never-give-up attitude, knowing that perseverance is key to personal success. Never give up. Never.
Principle 6: Build meaningful relationships:
Find a compatible partner and commit to a loving and supportive marriage or partnership. Cultivate open and honest communication, mutual respect, and shared values. Nurture the relationship through quality time, empathy, and understanding, fostering a deep and lasting connection.
Principle 7: Embrace fatherhood:
If you choose to become a father, embrace the responsibilities and joys that come with it. Show up for your children, providing love, guidance, and support as they grow.
Be present in their lives, nurturing their physical, emotional, and intellectual development, and instilling in them positive values and principles. If you did not have a good role model growing up it is of utmost importance that you do not repeat the sins of your father. Be better. That is your purpose.
Principle 8: Become a Provider:
Take financial responsibility for yourself and your family.
Strive to create stability and security, ensuring the well-being of your loved ones. Endeavor to meet their material needs while also offering emotional support, creating an environment of care and comfort.
Principle 9: Become a Protector:
Ensure the safety and well-being of your loved ones and those around you. Act as a shield against physical and emotional harm, fostering an environment where everyone feels secure and valued. You don’t have to be the macho tough guy, or a bully, but you must be strong and dependable. Learn to protect yourself, learn to box, learn to fight, and learn self control. Become the gentle Monster. One day you will have to step up.
Principle 10: Become a Mentor:
As you get older you will have gained you fair share of knowledge, skills, and experiences. Share these with others, especially your children. Offer guidance and mentorship to those who can benefit from your expertise. Inspire and empower others to grow, learn, and achieve their goals. Contribute to the betterment of your community by imparting knowledge and fostering lifelong learning.
Remember, this list serves as a general guide, and it’s important to adapt and personalize these principles to align with your own values and aspirations. Learning and embracing the ten principles can undoubtedly help men navigate many obstacles in life. By understanding the importance of personal growth and education, men can empower themselves to pursue knowledge and develop valuable skills. Building meaningful relationships and embracing fatherhood, if chosen, can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Becoming a provider and protector not only ensures the well-being of loved ones but also fosters a sense of responsibility and contribution.
