The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA)has launched a Men’s Health Song Talk About It! This song is composed and sung by musician and radio personality Mike Brady who has donated Talk About It! to PCFA. The PCFANational Men’s Health Ambassador Speaker Program is providing trained speakers on Prostate Health and Continence Health in every state and territory in Australia. They are reaching men in workplaces, industry, corporations, clubs and community organisations with important health promotion messages. The theme of the National Men’s Health Ambassador Speaker Program is to Talk About It so this new men’s health song fits perfectly. The National Men’s Health Ambassador Speaker Program has reached 35000 men in 17 months and when age and gender standardised (20 to 70 years) the Ambassador Speakers have spoken to more rural, then regional then remote Australian men than metropolitan men. This result shows that the program is reaching an area of high need in men’s health in Australia. The National Men’s Health Ambassador Speaker Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing National Continence Management Strategy to 30 June 2010. She mentions testicular cancer, low testosterone and erectile dysfunction as three men’s health issues. Dr. Mona also says that men’s health is especially important because men are less likely to visit their healthcare providers for preventative care. While Dr. Mona gives a great overview on men’s health, it is also necessary to look closely at more specific medical conditions affecting men. The leading causes of death for men include heart disease, cancer, unintentional injury, stroke and chronic lower respiratory diseases.
