I went from Online Movie Editors > Windows Movie Maker > iMovie > Final Cut 7 and Final Cut was, quite frankly the easiest to grasp. I don’t understand why people get turned off with its layout: when you use it, it’s just like any other video editor but with a different layout and way more things that you can do.
@GreenStarMedia I have not used final cut pro X, But I have used FCP express, My main editing software is Sony Vegas 9. In comparison Final Cut is so much harder to use, but still the end result is not as good, it is so easy to add an effect change the audio and export a video in vegas. It just needs to be also on the mac and they will be king.
I’m seriously thinking about taking the leap from Vegas to FCP and it sounds like the right time since it will be a fresh learning curve regardless. Thanks for your tips and thoughts on the products.
Sony Vegas Pro 10 or 9 is so much better! I see apple is trying to copy Sony now. Sony Vegas Pro is putting a dent in their sales. Just like windows 7 did! Thats why you don’t see those “I’m a mac” commercials anymore. Sony Vegas Pro 10 (with it’s 3d editing and Redcam support) is the best video editor out there.
I’m normally an iMovie user and I tried FCP X in the Apple Store and loved it.
I think one day I will buy it. I was wondering first though,
Does it have Motion Tracking? For example if I had a fake laptop with a green screen on it, and with GS effect made it look like something’s on the laptop, would I be able to move the laptop and have the picture or video or whatever stay on the laptop in the same place? Like they do on TV?
k question…
the time line, does it have more then 1 Audio and 1 video?
like, you know in fcp, you can have AS MANY AS YOU WANT. can you do that with this program?
After watching this a second time and having just learned Final Cut Pro (some version before X) i have decided to go ahead and buy it as i am not yet a professional and don’t really use the features left out; Thanks a lot for the honesty Soldier.
Should Apple call it iMovie Pro instead of Final Cut Pro X? The interfaces are much like iMovie while Final Cut Pro interfaces are not. I’ve read many websites and seen many clips on YouTube about “Final Cut Pro X” causes so many confusions to many Final Cut Pro editors because they don’t want to spend times, moneys, and effforts to learn and master the new software while they have been experiencing and mastering the Final Cut Pro for years. I hope Apple team will release a new Final Cut Pro 8.
You rock man! I just stumbled upon your videos a few hours ago, and i’m hooked! Awesome reviews!
what editor do you use to edit your videos?

is action essentials 2 a third party plugin, and if it is or is not, could you use it in final cut pro x?

@Z4NE134 the reason is cuz the third party plugins aren’t 64 bit, so THEY need to update, not FCP
