Does the rate of obsoletion of technology annoy you?
Author: admin | Filed under: GadgetsIs it obsoletion or obsolescence? Whichever!
I mean you buy a new laptop today, and tomorrow the new model has twice as much memory, a bigger hard drive, and a blu ray drive. Or you get a phone today, and tomorrow there is one with a better camera or better screen. You know the kind of thing.
Are you the type of person who would try to keep up and have the latest gadgets?

No.
Not at all…
if i can afford it, i will sell my old and buy the new one. but unless my old one is really outdated , meaning it cant perform the “normal” tasks its time to upgrade.
planned obsolescence
yeah it gets pretty annoying just shows how f-ing greedy corporations are
My old rotary phone just ain’t what she used to be…meanwhile my rabbit ears afre drooping and my black and white tv has a ghost picture.
Yes, especially with iPod’s and gaming devices like xbox or whatever. I remember when I first got a Playstation, the PS2 was just coming out and everyone was going on about how much better it was >.<
Obviously a lot of it just technological progression, but I think some companies do it on purpose to get you to buy the newer version so they can make more profit. Microsoft definitely does this with their operating programs. Vista only JUST came out and now they have Windows 7, which is a 100x better than Vista and Vista STILL has problems. That is freakin annoying.
Yes.
No, you old person
Planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence is the process of a product becoming obsolete and is the norm in today’s high tech world.
A law named after Intel co-founder Gordon E. Moore, who introduced the concept in a 1965 paper states the number of transistors that can be placed inexpensively on an integrated circuit will double approximately every two years.
It has since been used in the semiconductor industry to guide long-term planning and to set targets for research and development, thus guarantying obsolescence.
No, it is not annoying; I look forward to the advancements. I am looking forward to the release of the optical computer soon.
Nope. I gave up on Bill gates and his twisted plans to rule the world two years ago. Vive la Mac!
Not in the least…I buy my gadgets after I’ve read up on the spec etc…and if they suit my requirements – I buy. I love gadgets! My last gadgety purchase was a Panasonic Lumix TZ7 camera.
It does annoy me, I’ve a PDA that works well and is wearing well, yet while it’s only 3 years old, the files it produces are not supported/read by the latest MS Office.
yeah big time,,,,,,,,
