What I specifically need to know is that do I need to pay extra for a wifi gadget or something. If I get two DS would I be able to connect with the wifi.

no, you have to buy a wifi connection which costs £29.99 in any good game store. You can still connect though, they have wirless sensors in them so you can chat and stuff.

if you have a wireless broadband router, you do not need to buy anything else. to browse the internet you need to buy the opera browser. you can connect 2 ds’s without needing a router, as long as they arent too far apart. if you have a wired internet connection, and want to play games online you will need to buy the wifi connector. i tried to find one, and they are quite rare. most shops hadnt even heard of them! instead, i got a hercules USB wifi transmitter. its basically the same thing and makes a wired connection wireless.
OK Dont get confused. To browse the internet you need the wireless router. However just to connect 2 DS consoles you dont need it.
