Why do some gaming laptops have under 2Ghz processors?
Author: admin | Filed under: GamesI’m currently looking for a laptop that I would be able to play The Sims 3 on. TS3 minimum specification is, for Windows Vista, 2.4Ghz processor yet some apparently great gaming laptops have under 2Ghz processors, why is this? Surely hard-core PC games need a higher spec than The Sims?

Are dual cores a different equivalent?

Most likely because they have dual core processors.

Yes, dual core CPUs are basically two processors. Not all games can take advantage of dual core technology but many new ones do.
Performance cannot be compared with a single core CPU simply by clock speed.
On this site a 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo is min req for Sims 3:

laptops are not good for gaming they can’t be upgraded >desk tops are better and can be upgraded
Because some of the gaming laptops have highly powered internal processors capable of running ‘hardcore’ games at high resolutions and strainful frame rates.
Less powerful processors use less power to give maximum battery life. They also run cooler.
They don’t, they more than that or they are no good. They 1066 FSB with a graphics card and 4GIG DDR3 RAM.
They still won’t run Crysis, they are a waste of money and defeat the object of having a laptop as they are way to big.
what gaming laptops?
mine has 2.2 Ghz dual core
it cannot compete with my desktop
but only because the 7600 Nvidia cannot do SLI like my 7950 Gx2 can
but it can and does run games
i just have to be realistic on what games i run
