I agree we need to have background checks, and if we are going to do concealed carry, we need some rigorous background checks and “training” but I don’t like how the NRA seems to want to give guns to anybody, regardless if they are responsible or not.
The NRA pushing for the watchlist, I somewhat understand. I don’t think just being on the watchlist should be restricted from owning a gun. I’m on the damn watchlist and I never committed even been charged with anything in my whole life. I’ve never been held in a mental institute or anything like that either.

@MrBlackVortex okay, there is no reason to believe this is true. It’s just my impression. So now I try to back it up with numbers:
Blacks in the US in 2009: 12.4%
Blacks in the UK in 2001: 2%
Blacks in Europe overall: below 1%
@biologyprodigy What the hell are you talking about? He was making a damn good point. Many people get automatically turned down just because of their names.
On the racism issue: As a European I tend to believe that there are not as many black people as in the US, which is probably true. That doesn’t mean that there is no racism, but the numbers from the Guardian may very well be misleading.
Then the Oxford’s statement is pretty interesting. You can hardly punish institutions of higher education if there is a lack of lower education. That’s why education is a long term investment.
Also: University degrees shouldn’t be a requirement for every job.
@toppless09 you’re right. At this moment it looks like the only chance for Obama to win in 2012 is if Sarah Palin is the Nonimated Republican. The scary part is if Sarah Palin is a Runner, then we have a serious risk of having her as president against such a weak limp opponent as Obama.

i thought in fact that, if you have good enough scores and grades, they did that & it was called a scholastic scholorship…im wrong?

What I got from that press conference is that Obama is a decent guy, perhaps a great individual, but he fails miserably at being President…
