Third Place in the Antiques Roadshow Top Ten Items
Author: admin | Filed under: Football
Formerly the most valuable appraisal to ever appear on the US broadcast of the Antiques Roadshow, but knocked into 2nd place in January 2009, and then into 3rd place in January 2010. This hand-woven Navajo Ute First Phase wearing blanket is a representation of the very beginnings of Navajo textile creation. This national treasure sat on the back of a chair for generations.

@UserNamei5 It is in a museum.
@krizm How’s Virginity treating you?
Good for him!
First place Antiques roadshow
it belongs on a Yute Chief,Where Else/>.?.
Where is it? When is that guy going to uncover the art piece from under that dingy cloth cover?
@rubyred0039 Did i once ever state that this man stole this textile? Did i ever once state that he was purposely hiding it? I believe you need to reread my statement. Good day
@UserNamei5 Riiiiight, because I’m sure this man’s grandparents thought “hey, I bet if we steal a blanket from the Navajos our grandchildren will be rich!” Give me a break – If this gentleman had known the worth of a blanket, passed down from his “poor farmer” grandparents, I’m pretty sure he would have taken it to a museum long ago. He’s clearly a salt of the earth guy, not one purposely hiding a “national treasure” from society. Good grief.
My parent’s home has a mixture of both furniture/artifacts/textiles they’ve purchased throughout their marriage, and inherited – which are the pieces I love most. I know they’re not worth anything close to this blanket but their individual histories, in my opinion, are invaluable. It saddens me to think our culture’s “need” for brand spankin’ new could potentially dissolve the wonderful tradition of family heirlooms. I’m only 20, but can’t wait to have some of my family’s pieces in my own home
@krizm And you did nothing to help him? You just stood by and watched an old man get robbed and beaten?
But we all know you’re full of it, because the textile was sold for half a million dollars to a museum, and Ted and his wife bought a retirement home in Florida. Whassup?
@UserNamei5 “It belongs in a Museum” – It is now in a museum.
“It isnt like the US Government respects Indians. You ever been to a Navajo Reservation?”
Government-subsidized Indian reservations are among the poorest, because they’ve been starved of their pride and their ability to be self-sustaining. Compare them with reservations who do not accept government funding – I think you’ll be very surprised.
These textiles are very rare, meaning they were obviously not well taken care of.
@UserNamei5
Where does it belong then?
i was there and when he was going back to the parking lot a car passed by and took it from him
it was so sad cause they pushed the old man to the ground and he was crying
@Ultranothing It belongs in a Museum preferably one ran by Navajo Native Americans. Some things are considered a national treasure i believe this is one of these things. How would you feel if someone privately owned the Last Supper by Da Vinci? A priceless piece of artwork like that should be protected and conserved. Besides It isnt like the US Government respects Indians. You ever been to a Navajo Reservation? Its like South Central LA Without Vegetation.
@UserNamei5 “Now give it back to where it belongs.”
Give it back to whom, exactly? The Ute Navajos? This man’s family cherished and preserved the textile for five generations and, considering how exceptionally rare they are, I don’t think it could have ended up in better hands. What’s your beef, stranger?
@adam4397 “And that’s how you are supposed to react..”
In a world where everyone is exactly the same, I suppose you’re right.
killed a red indian then got half a million for selling the goods
@Ultranothing thats white people for you, and they will tell you to get out of their country too.
go to thejivinivan and look at the AuntStinks Roadshow you will laugh!!!
Now give it back to where it belongs.
they discovered Gold but no wealth at all in the family, what the fuck, it’s not like they discovered mud when they were poor farmers, anyway good for him, he seems like a very likeable person
@Nightx88 your right!!!My bad!!!!! People i’m sorry, i shouldnt of judge this person.
I think he just about swallowed his dentures.
@angelamcruz79 Get over yourself; the guy seems genuinely nice.
no im not kidding. they are called native americans.
